Utah's Hogle Zoo
Western Toad Surveys
Utah’s Hogle Zoo has been conducting Western (boreal) toad surveys since 2014. Working in close partnership with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, Sageland Collaborative, and the Forest Service, we have been able to gather valuable data about Utah’s rare amphibians. As we monitor sites across the state, we track species presence and distribution, identify breeding populations, monitor habitat change, and protect critical wetlands.
Surveys occur from May-September and vary in length ranging from day trips to multi-day camping stays in remote settings.
Led by Utah’s Hogle Zoo and Sageland Collaborative, the Community Science 2025 Spring Training Event will take place March 29 at Hogle Zoo!
